About Us

Our Origin

MPI Ultrasonics, an innovative Swiss engineering and consultancy company, is opening a new business venture fully dedicated to providing a solution to the great challenge of descaling piping and process systems without stopping operations. MPI offers standard and custom-built ultrasonic systems for a wide range of applications including sonochemistry, liquid processing (mixing and homogenization) sterilization, heavy duty ultrasonic cleaning, high intensity atomizers (cold spray and vapor sources), metal atomizers, surface hardening, impregnation and coating, material aging and stress relieving, ultrasonically-assisted extrusion of plastics and metals, founding and casting (vacuum casting, homogenization, degassing) and many other new and unusual processes.

Ultrasonic Descaling

Cleaning scale that has built up over years in piping systems and heat exchangers is a challenging task. Currently, companies have to stop their production for a few days even weeks and use harsh, environmentally-unfriendly, chemicals to clean their systems. Some engineering companies are promising to deliver ultrasonic solutions and deal with this issue, yet none has proven to be able to successfully in cleaning the scale build up while the process is running. With modern society promoting specialization of knowledge, multi-disciplinary talent is lacking. MPI fills in this gap. With its decades-long experience in similar applications and proprietary software technology, MPI can bypass multiple rounds of trial-and-error and work efficiently on solving the issue of scaling.

MMM Technology

With Multi-frequency, Multi-mode, Modulated Sonic & Ultrasonic Technology, you can achieve complete, uniform and homogeneous agitation of large solid masses and liquids unrivaled on the market. Complete resonance is obtained throughout any small, large and arbitrary shaped object.
Our system allows for precise amplitude-frequency modulation of ultrasonic effects and obtains optimal results for complex material processing and cleaning.

MMM Redefining Ultrasonic

Traditional ultrasonic actuators or transducers available on the market today oscillate in a relatively simple constant-frequency, contraction-extension vibrating mode. They are designed to satisfy pre-defined and fixed resonant conditions. This type of technology has limited application possibilities: it can be applied for the treatment of relatively simple and regularly shaped objects.

To achieve maximal efficiency with traditional ultrasonic technology, all oscillating bodies must resonate at the same frequency and have the same natural, resonant frequency throughout the object. However, when the object is larger or more complex, the more complex and diverse the natural resonant frequencies become. Therefore, applying a single operating frequency like traditional systems do leads to poor results, mainly because of the creation of standing waves. Moreover, the depth and amplitude of traditional fixed frequency ultrasonic excitation is relatively low when compared to our MMM method. For this reason, the corresponding efficiency and speed of ultrasonic cleaning and liquids processing is much lower (up to a factor of 10!).

In contrast, MPI developed the proprietary Multi-frequency, Multi-mode, Modulated Sonic & Ultrasonic system (MMM) which generates wide-band sonic and ultrasonic oscillations, from the infrasonic up to the MHz frequency domain. These oscillations propagate through any arbitrarily shaped and complex solid structures. These include pipes, heavy and very thick metal containers, pressurized reservoirs, very thick metal walls of autoclaves.

Generating multi-mode mechanical oscillations avoids the creation of stationary or standing waves which are typically produced by traditional ultrasonic systems. MMM technology provides the user with much greater freedom of control, regulation and programming over all vibration, frequency and power parameters.

Miodrag Prokić

Miodrag Prokić has 35 years of experience in ultrasonic technology. He is the owner of MPI, based in Switzerland. He has successfully delivered a number of complex products for several industries, including oil & gas, aerospace, and chemical processing. Every project that he achieves is thanks to his deep understanding of mathematical and physical background. He wrote books mathematically describing in detail how things work. Clients contact him every day to solve the unthinkable. He now wishes to tackle an issue that many think is impossible to solve: remove scaling from heat exchangers and pipes (under heavy duty operating conditions) without stopping the ongoing process.
